How to Spoil Coffee Adulteration

Coffee's quality can be tested following simple tricks.
Coffee drinkers know it well: their favorite beverage is sacred. Most of them think they choose the best option in the market, but the truth is that not always the features offered by companies are the same in the final product.
If you are one of those who only enjoy highest-quality products, Coffland Corp may be your guide! On today's post, we will lead you right through the tips used by coffee experts to spoil possible adulteration of this drink

Coffee’s DNA: A new way to establish coffee range
In 2011, the Spanish Company AZTI Tecnalia developed a new method to spoil coffee adulteration based on molecular biology. They analyzed coffee's DNA to determine the purity of Arabica coffee as a result of the mix with less quality coffee beans before brewing process.
This coffee test can detect the presence of Robusta coffee, Chicory or Roasted Malt in Arabica coffee. By separating the coffee genome, they can distinguish between the sorts of coffee by its quality. In fact, this test can also calculate the percentage of good coffee and its substitutes in one sample.
Spoiling coffee's quality using your senses
Although this test represents a significant advantage on coffee science, most of coffee farmers and roasters prefer more traditional methods. Leaving the molecular biology behind, they evaluate their products using their experience, along with their senses.

  • The coffee smell must be sweet, with a little touch of herbal essences.
  • The acidity of the espresso depends on the harvest and the type of coffee bean. Tasting coffee may determinate how much bitterness is contained in Arabica coffee by its humidity.
  • Also, the bitterness intensity depends on the roasting process. A coffee purely acid doesn't have a good flavor.

Besides purity of coffee beans, many factors influence coffee’s quality. In the coffee industry, it's important to pay attention to the substantial changes that damage coffee once it goes to market:

  • The way coffee is packed may affect the product: roasted coffee absorbs humidity in the air. Also, the sun light subtracts the coffee oils.
  • If your coffee doesn't have its unique smell, it means that it has passed too much time between the roasting process and the consumption.
  • Your coffee tastes burned when the roasting process burned the beans, or when you put it too much time in the espresso machine.

Here at Coffland Corp, we know about quality. That's why we offer you the best coffee options! Remember: the final product sold at the market may influence the taste and smell of your morning cup! Most customers prefer Arabica coffee because of its purity and sweeter flavor. Other coffee drinkers enjoy Robusta, a less quality coffee full of an acid taste that wakes up all their senses.
Also, the way you prepare your espresso is the key for a perfect coffee. Follow our entries to know how to make the perfect coffee cup for you!

Brief History of the Espresso Machine

Join your wistful with a retro coffee cup.
Before the modern espresso machine we all know existed, there only was one way to brew coffee: the Turkish style. This coffee was very bitter and unscented, and it was made using a bowl with grounded coffee and boiling water.

Coffee lovers waited until 1802 when a French pharmaceutic man, called Descroizilles, put two bowls within a holey metallic plate: in one container, the boiled water passes through the plate, reaching the grounded coffee in the other one.

The result was a coffee with a smoother and tasteful infusion than Turkish coffee. This invention was called Caféollete, a French derivation of "coffee machine." Descroizilles’s device was a success around the world, and his creativity led to other experiments making coffee.

Years later, in 1901, Luis Bezzera patented a coffee machine which used steam water controlled by levels, like locomotors. Bezzera gadgets were a significant breakthrough in the coffee science: he achieved a great coffee cup in less than two minutes! His design was hefty, and it was mostly used in coffee shops.

The term "espresso machine" started being used after this invention, and the world began to experiment with this kind of devices which offered a quick option for coffee.

Melitta Benz, a German housewife, introduced in 1907 a redesign of Caféollete that replaced the metallic plate with a rough paper as a filter. This change was significative for the final product. Benz's espresso was even more concentrated and aromatic. Sadly, the paper wore away after several uses, but she never gave up. She perfected her filter, making her espresso machine patent a millionaire idea and the beginning of a big company.

Ten years later, an Italian named Bialetti made a coffee device which was smaller, but clever. He wanted to make an espresso machine that can be used from home, and that's how the Moka espresso was born.
Moka espresso is the perfect mix of engineering, design, and marketing. This coffee machine was created eighty years ago, but nothing has changed over the years!

Here at Coffland Corp, we know how important is this beverage for you! The evolution of espresso machines had a huge impact on the way we drink coffee. Now, we hope that we can join you in the next step to innovate your coffee experience.
Take your coffee mug to the past with these old fashionable espresso machines.

How to Spot a Good Coffee Shop

A good coffee shop, is the one who has the best service.
No matter how hard your daily routine is, there is always a moment of the day in which you need a good cup of coffee. Some people like to drink it to boost their energy. Others enjoy it at breaks because it helps them to find a relaxing state.

Coffee has won a lot of fans without questioning their schedule or likes. There are many ways to serve this beverage as same as the spaces where you can find them. But sometimes diversity could become a problem.

Around the world, there are billions of coffee shops that have their style making coffee. How to pick the most relatable for your needs? Here in Coffland Corp, considering that we know about quality, today we will teach you our tricks to choose our coffee shops of trust:

  • When you're searching for the right place to drink your coffee regularly, you need to be practical. Look for the coffee shop that functions in harmony with your lifestyle. Don't force a trip in the middle of the night around the city just for a Frappuccino. Think about the distance between the spaces you go frequently, and the coffee shop of your dreams.
  • Second thing: you have to adore the ambient just as you love the coffee. Space must be clean, fresh and joyful. If you find a coffee shop that serves good drinks but you can't have a sit, discard it.
  • When you're entering into a new coffee shop, the decoration is the first cover letter. In this kind of decision, your eyes know best. Does this coffee shop have a nice presentation, according to the theme? Does it have good colors, good music, good vibes? Is their menu legible and yummy?
  • Can you smell it? You can determine how good is coffee before you put it in the cup. A great coffee shop is involved with the most particular and delicious smell that you love.
  • Most of the coffee lovers believe that the most important thing for a coffee shop is how good is the drink. Yes, of course, that influences your choice, but do you think about the price? There are bills to pay. Be conscious of what you buy vs. how much it cost. Sometimes a cheaper (in money talks) option is better than the most expensive.
  • Some people say that clients are the keys to the door of success. All customers have an idea of what they want when they're looking for an excellent service. That's why the perfect coffee shop should have a familiar trait with clients.
  • Finally, the real reason to come back to a coffee shop is the general wellness you’ve experienced. If you felt happy having a good time in this place, that means the coffee shop has all that you required.

Be patient. As your lifetime friends, the coffee shop that matches with you will come after a lot of surprises. In Coffland Corp, we like to encourage this personal quest hoping that you'll find the most suitable coffee shop for you. Remember sharing your discovering with us and others you love!
Choose wisely! Your coffee cup depends on that!
