Better Taste: With or Without Sugar?

If we don't use sugar, the coffee will be better?... or maybe we need a pinch of it?

Many people in the world, perhaps even yourself, have been involved in the big question of "Coffee with or without sugar?". Many say that without sugar the taste is more appreciated and others see merely unreasonable consuming it pure. If we do not use sugar, the coffee will be better?... or maybe we need a pinch of it?

Say yes to sugar?

We know many people who argue that this beverage should be taken without sugar because adding the sweet ingredient alters the taste of the drink and always prefer to enjoy a cup of coffee with its characteristic bitter taste. If we look closely, we can find some cold coffee drinks that within their recipe already contain sweet ingredients and are of great preference for many people, so in this case, the argument of coffee without sugar is lost.

Coffee, taken without sugar, improves attention and the ability to react to situations that demand mental acuity. It helps you make decisions faster, you get less confused, and few things escape. That's what caffeine does, and so does sugar alone, because glucose improves brain performance. What we have observed now is that taken together, putting sugar to the above generates a clear improvement in the retention of memorized data.

More important than the problem of sugar or not, is to know how to find the coffee of our preference; that is to identify the benefits of this wonderful grain and which varies depending on the place of harvest, type of grain, the method of cultivation and kind of roasting.

Sweetened or not, sharing and enjoying it is the important thing. And now that we concluded that putting sugar or not in our beverage only depends on the tastes of each person, we bring you extra information about our beloved coffee that would be great to know:

Very rich in antioxidants

Thanks to the presence of antioxidants, it protects us against diseases in which oxidative stress of the cells is involved, as is the case of neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. In fact, due to its antioxidant, vitamin and mineral content, several scientific studies indicate that coffee could come to be considered as a functional food.

Useful to activate the body and wake up

It is a natural drink that helps to enable and elevate alertness and is helpful to improve concentration for longer. For these reasons, it becomes an ideal beverage to consume in the morning, reducing drowsiness and increasing our vigilance during a couple of hours.

Here at Coffland Corp, our goal is to always have the best information, tips, and tricks for you regarding this enjoyable beverage. Do not miss any of our blogs and make sure to follow us on our social media accounts!

Perhaps only a pinch of sugar can do it better.

Healthy and Sugar-Free Ways to Sweeten Your Coffee

Healthy ways to sweeten your coffee
There are many options for you to try beyond sugar

If your resolution for the new year is to be healthier, this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice a good and sweet cup of coffee. Sugar is an ingredient almost essential in every drink, but its substitutes are getting more popular among, basically, everyone.

While it’s more than fine to have a beverage sweeten with sugar every now and then, doctors recommend to find a balance, especially if you want to prevent gaining weight and cavities. Instead of using artificial sweeteners that do not contain sufficient nutrients, it’s better to add to your coffee a natural alternative that offers health benefits.

Consuming coffee helps the body in many ways. With time, the organism improves its alertness, the concentration, and burst with energy. Also, it contributes to lower the incidence of diabetes type 2 and heart disease, only if you drink it black, most of the time. That being said, it doesn’t mean everyone should give up all the recipes and delicious variations.

Sugar-free ingredients to sweeten your coffee

Every sugar-free option will incorporate a different flavor to your beverage, but of course, if you are giving up sugar, you will adapt easily as long as it tastes sweet. Here is a list of the most recommended ingredients.

Coconut cream

A lactose-free drink is not that bad either. Coconut cream not only will add a fantastic beachy aroma but will sweeten your coffee. Although it won’t thick and lights the coffee as good as regular milk does, most people consider that its flavor outweighs the look of it. Before using it in your recipe, it must be well stirred.

Maple syrup

Pure maple syrup contains 14 antioxidant compounds which studies confirm it has anti-diabetic, anti-cancer and anti-bacterial properties. For your coffee, you should add just one teaspoon because by not being artificial it has an intense flavor. In case you don’t find the syrup, try using natural honey instead.

Almond milk

This is probably the favorite sugar-free substitute out there. Almond milk not only is exquisite but has a significant amount of protein, and you will live without the need of counting those calories. It’s also higher in calcium which is good for your bones and teeth. As a nutty-taste alternative, you can incorporate to your recipe cashew milk too.

Cinnamon

This ingredient will cut the strong sour taste and will give a spicy yet sweet flavor to the beverage. Cinnamon must be add when brewing the coffee. For every four tablespoons of coffee grounds, you will need one teaspoon of cinnamon.

Stevia

Of course, not the artificial one. Stevia is a native plant from Latin America and is a natural sweetener by excellence. Studies had shown that it’s up to 300 times sweeter than table sugar; so if you purchase a 100% pure stevia extract that contains zero calories, remember you only need a little amount to do the job.

But most important, coffee will taste better if those grounds and beans have great quality. In Coffland Corp, we are professional roasters that are used to perfect clients’ profile preferences.
