Bulletproof Coffee is not your average latte, and it does not have regular butter either. |
In a previous post, we talked about weird coffee recipes that were somehow delicious. One of them was a pistachio butter coffee, in which butter was the base ingredient. Well, it became a trend among athletes, high-powered CEOs, and busy parents, and is now called bulletproof coffee.
Apparently, when you put together high-quality coffee beans with the right fats, the drink boosts your energy to the point it can ease cravings, help you lose weight, build muscle, and increase focus and performance. But, of course, that has to be proven.
If you want to lose weight and gain muscle, you should visit your doctor first. Either way, the creators of bulletproof coffee wanted to prepare a healthier cup of joe. Nevertheless, it is not just butter coffee. Actually, if you add plain industrial butter in just regular coffee, it will not taste that good. Or at least, that is what they say.
Why people say bulletproof coffee is healthier
The ingredients used in this trend are freshly grounded coffee, brain octane oil or coconut oil, and grass-fed, cultured, unsalted butter. Yes, it sounds fancy, and it is! Milk protein tends to change the antioxidant compounds of coffee. This type of butter will be the milk in the beverage, but it will not take away the number of catechins, antioxidants found in coffee.
Also, another reason why this grass-fed, cultured, unsalted butter is relevant to have a healthier drink is due to the small droplets of fat suspended on top of the coffee. Those little pieces of butter are called micelles, and they make the fat more digestible.
Now, for an increase in your focus and performance, you must add brain octane oil or coconut oil, to go around the metabolic burden of processing in the liver. By doing so, the oil quickly transforms into energy that goes to your brain and muscles.
How to make it
To make bulletproof coffee, you will need the ingredients we mentioned before and to follow these simples steps:
- Brew one cup of coffee, preferably, freshly grounded Arabica beans
- Mix in a blender two tablespoons unsalted, grass-fed butter.
- Once is mixed, add brain octane oil or coconut oil.
