Hidden as a treasure for all coffee lovers and connoisseurs is the Kona coffee. This is one of the treasures of the tropical paradise, and another reason to visit this amazing island! Want to know more about it? Learn with Coffland Corp about this unique blend.
What’s Kona / Hawaiian coffee?
In the slopes of the Kona districts of Hawaii, a coffee bush is cultivated in small parcels. The coffee beans are medium size, uniform and mostly clean with small amounts of pulp compared to other kinds. These beans are mostly hand-picked, and they are specially selected because of their unique characteristics. Cultivated in small amounts, the Kona Coffee is as exclusive as it’s origins. And it’s hailed as one unique experience for coffee lovers across the globe.
Ranking up in the list of coffees, it’s no surprise that these beans score higher prices than other special blends. All this because of their flavor profiles: some say that the volcanic soil that’s part of the Hawaiian territory has something to do with its flavorful characteristics, others point out the altitude of the harvesting grounds as a factor, considering that’s lower than other farming lands. Another aspect that might play a role in its flavor profile is the fact that’s not grown in the shade, as the weather is fresh and cool, perfect for the cultivation process of the coffee beans.
Kona coffee is not only the product of the strict process of harvesting and packing, as their high prices and quality standards require. They are unique variations of the ‘Guatemalan typica’ kind of coffee, and it’s one of the most interesting flavor profiles in the coffee realm. It makes it an important asset to the economy of the islands, and this, among other extraordinary qualities, creates a unique market for this blend.
How’s Hawaiian coffee rated?
Among the most interesting characteristics of this blend is the fact that it’s strictly selected and categorized, all that fomented by farming authorities. This is done to ensure the best product possible for all investors and coffee lovers. The selection process, however, is not as interesting as the rating system, that creates a stable and organized base for all producers to create a uniform product.
But how are the coffee beans rated in Hawaiian Coffee blends? This is the list of the characteristics per kind!
