What’s the secret they have kept from us?
First of all, let’s talk about something important about macchiato coffee: there are two types of them.
The first and classic one is the espresso macchiato made with milk foam (yes, that’s the real secret behind that cute foam on your espresso). The second and the most popular type, thanks to the big franchises, is the latte macchiato. This one is made in layers, just like the good-looking mochaccino.
Now that you know the first detail about this wonderful variation of coffee combinations, you must know a fantastic technique you should use to feel like a real barista.
Latte macchiato
Ingredients:
- Milk.
- Espresso shots or one espresso extraction.
- Sugar.
First things first. You must steam your milk with the sugar. You’re going to pour it all into your glass or cup. After that, start applying carefully and slowly the espresso extraction. You’ll see the how coffee separates itself from the milk and the milk foam.
Espresso Macchiato:
Ingredients:
- Espresso.
- Milk foam.
This one will be a piece of cake for you to make. You’ll only need to put your espresso in your cup and, with a long spoon, take some of the milk foam from the steamed milk and put it over your espresso coffee. That’s all! An easy and classy option for you.
Caramel Macchiato:
This one is an extra for you to have and be the ultimate self-taught barista of your social circle.
Ingredients:
- Milk.
- Caramel syrup.
- Double espresso extraction.
To start, put some caramel syrup in the bottom of your mug or glass. Then, you need to steam the milk again with the sugar and pour the milk into the recipient you’re using. Right after that, you must put the double espresso extraction into your glass carefully, watching that the beverage is not fusing at all with the milk. When you finish there, you need to pour some more of caramel syrup over the milk foam to decorate it.
What do you think now about the macchiato? They seem yummy and easy to prepare, isn’t it? Now you got those amazing tricks to try at home, we’re going to give you some last tips.
If you don’t have an espresso machine with a steam wand, don’t worry! You don’t need it at all. You’ll only need a hand blender and some patience to make the milk to get a foam consistency good enough for a macchiato.
